The Call for Change

excerpt "It's time to get involved... Our future depends on you. I am afraid by not responding we are settling for mediocrity... WE NEED CHANGE in this city... Starting today we are gong to make a difference in this city... We need to come together and lead Odessa into the future... We cannot be left behind. We will not be left behind... I believe we can build bridges for a better tomorrow, but we have to get involved with the process...The time is now!...Tomorrow is too late!...

My Goals

  1. Promote urban revitalization
  2. Encourage Council to take a logical approach to spending on new infrastruture
  3. Promote utilization of existing infrastructure in our communities
  4. Proactive approach to improve quality of life issues in Odessa
  5. Keep citizens informed and encourage citizen participation
  6. Open the door to the Mayor to all citizens
  7. Fair and equal treatment to all districts

Issues

  1. Unopposed Municiple government election
    excerpt "I am a firm believer in democracy, and the people should always have a choice in their leadership. It has been 15 to 20 years since a Mayor in Odessa has run contested and I believe that is not acceptable."
  2. Progress
    excerpt "When I compare Odessa to our sister city to the east, I am just amazed on how much progress they have made in 20 years. I was happy to learn in this morning's OA that the city is going to re-look at Odessa's comprehensive plan. I believe issues like drainage, water and sewer need to be addressed..."
  3. Workforce Crisis
    excerpt "There are just not enough employees to fill critical positions...it is affecting all industries."
  4. TAXES
    excerpt "Our citizens deserve to know how they are being taxed and how their taxes are being spent. But they should know upfront, not after the fact; and they should be allowed to vote on tax increases."

Solutions

  1. Unopposed Municiple government election
    excerpt "It's time to get involved. Our future depends on you.." Candidates are dropping out "right and left," We need to encourage citizens to become more civic and encourage them to be part of the political process.
  2. Progress
    The City of Odessa's Comprehensive plan hasn't been looked at since 1978. If elected Mayor I will make sure that Council does not forget their commitment to address the Plan and look at issues facing our community. How Odessa will grow and in which direction will be on the top of the list. If elected Mayor we will encourage dialog with Odessa Housing Corp and Finance Corp to address Odessa's Housing needs.
  3. Workforce Crisis
    The City of Odessa does not have anyone addressing Odessa's Workforce crisis. If elected Mayor we will encourage the Odessa Development Corporation to act fast on a solution. We owe to our business community to give them the human resources necessary to stay in business.
  4. TAXES
    If elected Mayor, we will make sure to hold those responsible for approving taxes and spending taxes accountable for their actions. Being good stewards of the tax payer's money is in the communities best interest. If elected, we will make sure the people have the opportunity to vote on tax increases and make sure the people are prevy to all the information regarding the tax increase.
